CART Newsletter December 2010

A Newsletter for all the good Barron County citizens participating in the tax reform effort!

After several months of being bombarded with campaign promises, tv ads, candidate mailings and endless phone calls ……. the relief of the November 2nd election is finally over. We are particularly pleased with the massive turnout from our voters and foresee a new direction in congress which through the tireless efforts of the Tea Party and it’s affiliates, will hopefully bring about changes that WE want as citizens of this great nation and in the state of Wisconsin. A list of the newly elected officials can be obtained on our website. Our commitment to keeping taxation within the goal of managed spending will continue to be our focus as we progress through 2011 and beyond. Government control over everything we say or do is definitely not the answer and only leads to higher taxes and more inept programs that the government has never succeeded in making worthwhile. We are looking at the next couple of years with optimism concerning tax relief and must support those who are working to meet the challenges of keeping spending concerns within reason. Congress and local officials MUST make the changes to control spending issues with our tax dollars in a budget just like we all do in our homes on a monthly basis. CART will continue to oversee the county budget, the spending issues and the continual special interest expenses that come before the board and offer our opinion in favor of the taxpayers of Barron county.

We are in the process of electing a new board for CART and will be holding that meeting on November 30th in Chetek at the Sportsman’s Supper Club at 7:00 PM. We invite our membership to attend this meeting and discuss the future of CART in relation to serving our membership and the citizens of Barron county. Unfortunately we have had minimal attendance the past several months and as a result we have curtailed our monthly meetings and may go to a plan where we meet on a need by basis. Those who have served with me the past two years have put in countless hours in attending county board and executive board meetings as well as other special meeting concerns that affect us in taxation issues. I appreciate their support and efforts in servitude to our organization and am very grateful for the commitment they have all made to the CART group. I have listed their names at the end of this article. With that thought in mind, I want also to thank all of our members in CART for keeping up with their membership and allowing us to work on your behalf. We all hope you have a wonderful holiday season, a most joyous Christmas with family and friends and a look to a new and wonderful New Year.
